This exhibition features Modlin’s newest body of work inspired by his travels throughout Asia. Each painting continues his pursuit of a personal visual language one that interprets landscape through layered mark-making, memory, and sensation rather than literal depiction.
Andrew Modlin is a Los Angeles-based artist whose work explores the tension between memory and media, the digital and the organic. After earning his BFA from UCLA, he went on to co-found MedMen, where he redefined cannabis retail through immersive design.
Despite his success in business, he returned to painting full-time, translating quick iPad sketches from his travels into richly layered compositions. His current work blends vibrant color, digital motifs, and expressive mark-making to evoke landscapes that are at once real, remembered, and imagined.
